"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3/4 cup margarine
1 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (not likely!)
Walnuts, pecans or such optional (never used nuts -- just added extra chocolate chips)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 F
Melt margarine in microwave - pour it into large bowl and add sugar, vanilla , milk, and egg -- mix it all up. In a separate smaller bowl put flour, salt and baking soda -- mix it up. Add to mixture in large bowl gradually mixing it as you add dry ingredients. Have extra flour handy as I ALWAYS needed , at least a cup more add it slowly ( I used my hands at this point to mix....) Add as many chocolate chips as you want!! Form a ball of cookie dough the size of a small Mandarin orange
(who likes SMALL choc. Chip cookies?) add a few more choc. Chips for good measure and put on a cookie sheet. Once your cookie sheet is full, use a fork to gently pat it down. Cook 8 - 10 minutes (do NOT over-cook- cookies will get hard as rocks if you do!! Time can vary with ovens too -- so check them at about 6 minutes and if the edges are turning brown -- get them out of the oven then. Put them on wax paper to cool.

Personal Notes:
I have never made these without doubling the recipe. These are delicious to toss in the microwave for about 10 - 15 seconds and you have instant warm gooey choc. Chip cookies!
This recipe was originally an old Crisco recipe..... I just tweaked it up a bit....
