1/2 cup syrup
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs
1 cup butter or lard
1 cup boiling water mixed with 1 heaping teaspoon baking soda
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Flour to make soft dough

Roll out, and cut into shapes. Bake at 375º.

This is a very old recipe. I top these with white icing and dip in coconut. My mom always made these for Christmas.
