2 c. all purpose flour
1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1, 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, at room temperature
1, 1/4 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 c. blanched almonds, coarsely chopped
2/3 c. semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Heat oven to 325º. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. In separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in eggs, vanilla, and almond extract. Gradually mix in flour mixture. Stir in almonds and chocolate chips. Shape dough into two logs about 1,1/2" wide by 15" long. Put logs about 3" apart on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake until edges start to brown and top is firm, about 50-55 mins. Cool. Cut into 1/2" diagonal slices. Return to baking sheet, cut side down, and bake until dried, approx. 30-40 mins.
