1 gal. onions
1 c. course salt
2 tbsp. alum
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 c. vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Cover onions with salt and fill jar with boiling water
Let stand overnight
Drain into pot using same water, rinse onions and cover for 3 days
Drain and rinse well
Cover with boiling water and alum let it sit for 4hrs.
Drain and wash well with cold water
Bottle, cover with vinegar and white sugar
Seal and let sit for 3 weeks
