1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
grated rind of one lemon

For top: * 1/4 cup white sugar and juice of one lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening with one cup of sugar, eggs lemon rind together.

Sift flour, salt baking powder together and add alternating with milk in liquid mixture till well blended.

Bake in buttered pan loaf for one hour at 350F.

Once the cake is baked, take out of oven. Use sharp knife and unstick the cake from the pan. Mix together 1/4 cup white sugar and juice of one lemon and pour over hot cake. The sweet lemon juice will run inside and around the cake.

When cool, cut in slices .... Mium....
