3 1/4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening (1/2 c. Crisco, 1/2 c. butter)
1 egg
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening. Add sugar and cream well. Add egg and then add flour, baking soda, and salt which have been sifted together, alternating with the buttermilk and soda. Add vanilla. Drop spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400º for about 10 to 12 minutes.
