3/4 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast and warm water. Heat buttermilk to luke warm. Mix all ingredients together. Let rest 10 minutes. Divide butter in half and put in two cookie sheets; melt in preheated 350º oven. Shape into balls and dip in melted butter on both sides; leave in cookie sheets. Let rise 15 minutes. Punch down and make a "well" in each roll. Fill with desired fillings. Let rise until doubled; bake until lightly browned
This is a variation of Grandma Richter's dough that I think turns out lighter, fluffier and a bit sweeter.. Our recipes are very different but equally as good.. They really are worth the effort.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
These are Carissa's absolute favorite!! She asks me to make them for her birthday every year. Everyone loves them and they were always popular when we sold our baked goods.
Cherry was my mother's second husband and they were married for many years. His real name was Norman Cherry but everyone called him Cherry and I don't know why. I never considered him my step-father because I didn't live with him and Mother. But we all got along just fine. Mama and Daddy lived on a farm in Poteet when this photo was taken and I loved my horse, Bill. He was a farm horse but he was also very gentle and I could go catch him and ride him bareback anytime I wanted to. I had an unusual childhood but no one has ever been loved or cared for more than I was. My grandparents were the best!
