Ingredients: 1 bag Navy Beans (one pound) 8 cups of Water 1 Ham Bone if you have one 4 cups of Water 4 cups of Beef Broth 4-5 Slices of Ham diced 6 Peppercorns 1 Bay Leaf 3 diced Carrots optional 1 cup Medium Chopped Yellow Onions 1 box Bisquick

Directions:Soak Navy Beans over night.
Soak navy beans in 10 cups of water over night. Wash and drain beans and put in a large pan. Add 4 cups of water and 4 cups of beef broth, the ham bone, diced ham, peppercorns, bay leaf and carrots. Cook beans on a simmer for 3-3.5 hours. Add onion the last 30 minutes. Remove peppercorns and bay leaf.
Use the Bisquick box recipe and make dumplings. Bring the broth to a boil but not on high heat. Drop the dumpling dough by heaping spoonful onto the broth and cook uncovered for 10 minutes and then cover for another 15 minutes at least.

Notes: This recipe is one from my mother, your Great Grandma Brinker. She would make it every time Dave and I took your mom and her brother, Shaun, to Lake City, Iowa for a weekend visit. It became one of your mother's favorites and something made anytime there was a spare ham bone available.
