Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 sleeve of salted saltine crackers or enough to line a cookie sheet
1 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 package or 2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips
(optional) 3/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted almond slivers, crushed candy cane, cookie sprinkles, etc.

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a cookie sheet with aluminium foil or parchment paper. Line crackers in a single layer, tightly together, on the cookie sheet, salt side up.

In a small pot combine sugar and butter and bring to a boil. Once mixture is at a boil, continue boiling for 3-5 minutes. Mixture should be a deep caramel color.

Immediately pour over crackers and spread to cover completely.

Bake at 400 degrees for 5 to 6 minutes. It will get all bubbly.

Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. As they melt, spread chocolate chips out evenly. Top with any of the optional ingredients to decorate, if desired.

Cool completely and break into rough small pieces (I refrigerate for an hour or two and then break it up). Stores well for up to 1 month in an airtight container and refrigerated.
