5 apples, cored (peeled or not)
1 c white sugar
cinnamon to taste
optional: nutmeg and ginger to taste

1 c flour
1/2 c brown sugar
1 t salt
1/4 cup butter (just colder than room temperature)

Directions:
Directions:
Cut/dice the apples and put them in a buttered 8x8" baking dish (glass is best).
Sprinkle with white sugar and cinnamon.

Combine in a bowl the butter, brown sugar, and flour. It should be mixed with a pastry blender until it is in coarse crumbs. Warm butter will not work as well as cool butter.

Sprinkle over the apple mixture.

Bake at 350º for about 45 minutes or until it is hot and bubbly.
