2 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, shortening and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla and lemon. Add dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake @ 325º for 1 1/4 hours. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on rack.
