1 lb. butter
1 lb. eggs(10)separated
1 lb. flour(4c.)
1 lb. sugar (2 c.)
1 c. light syrup
1 c. light wine
juice of 1 orange
1 peeled dried apple
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
raisins seedless
citron
orange rind
currants
lemon rind
dates
cherries
pecans
black walnuts
english walnuts
almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Grease and flour pans. Cream butter, sugar, beaten egg yolks. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix together and add all remaining ingredients, except egg whites. Fold in egg whites beaten stiff, and enough milk to blend. Bake 1 hour until cake rises. Turn heat up to 350 degrees until cake is done. Wrap in muslin soaked with blackberry wine, place in tin for storage.
Note: Ingredients listed without amounts were added a handful of this and a handful of that.
