Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 lbs. self-rising flour
1/2 c. Crisco
2 qts. apples, peeled and sliced
5 c. sugar
apple pie spice
1 stick margarine

Directions:
Directions:
Reserve 1 cup flour. Cut Crisco into rest of flour, add enough water to form soft dough. Divide in 4 pieces. Roll out each piece one at a time. Put 1/4 of apples, 3/4 c. of sugar, dash of apples pie spice, and 1 tbsp. of margarine in center of dough. Pull all edges of dough to top and press together. With one hand on top, slide other hand under the dumplings, turn upside down quickly, placing it in a roasting pan at least 5 inches deep. After placing all four dumplings in pan, mix reserved flour with 2 cups of sugar. Then add water to make liquid enough to pour over dumplings, covering them completely. Add rest of margarine and some more apple pie spice. Cover and cook in oven at 400 degrees until it browns lightly, about 1 1/2 hours. If not brown by this time, uncover and let brown. May be served with vanilla ice cream on top. You may use blackberries instead of apples if you want Blackberry Dumpling.
