2 very large onions cut into rings
¼ to ½ cup of brown sugar
4 T of dark molasses
1 tsp of dries mustard
½ tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of salt
½ cup cider vinegar
6 slices of bacon
1 can of green lima beans drained 6 oz
1 can of dark kidney beans drained 16 oz
1 large can of New England style baked beans 24 oz or 2 small cans of vegetarian beans

Cover and cook onions, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, garlic powder, salt and vinegar for about 20 minutes in a saute pan. Fry the bacon until crisp, cool and crumble. Add beans and bacon to the cooked mixture. Place in a 3 qt casserole. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

This amazing recipe was brought into our family from my mother in-law Iva Streble. It was in her Eastern Star Cookbook and each time she made it for a celebration she recorded it in this cookbook.
