1 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 egg
2 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
In saucepan combine brown sugar and butter. Cook and stir until butter is melted. Remove from heat. Stir in water, vanilla and egg until well blended. Stir together flour, baking powder and baking soda; add to saucepan and mix well. Stir in nuts. Spread evenly in 8x8-inch baking pan. Bake in 350º oven about 20 minutes or until lightly browned and pulling away from edges. Do not overbake.
Makes 18 bars.
