1 whole chicken
1/2 stick butter
salt & pepper to taste
large pot of boiling water


For Dumplings:
1 cup All Purpose Flour
1/3 cup of Crisco
1/4 cup of ICE cold water




Directions:
Directions:
Boil 1 whole chicken and butter in a large pot of salted water with fat and bones, which provide a rich flavorful broth, until meat falls off the bone.
Remove chicken, de-bone, and set aside for later.
Set broth aside until later.

For Dumplings:
In a large mixing bowl, combine:
1 cup All Purpose Flour
1/3 cup of Crisco, cut into flour with a pastry cutter or fork, until pea size balls form
1/4 cup of ICE cold water, sprinkled over above a little at a time, stirring with a fork until a ball forms.
Sprinkle flour onto a pastry mat and hands and knead the dough until pliable.
Divide dough into 3 balls.
Using a floured rolling pins, roll out each ball until very thin, and cut into thin strips.
Add strips to boiling broth slowly, keeping the strips from sticking together, by stirring broth.
Reduce to simmer.
Add chicken and stir. Salt & pepper to taste
