1 c. Flour
1 c. Milk
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 to 3 tsp. Sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
Food coloring, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Heat shortening to 365º. Preheat the mold by doing it into hot shortening for about 15 seconds. Remove mold and let excess shortening drain off. Dip mold into batter. Hold the mold level. Let the batter come not quite to the top of the mold (It will rise to the top of the mold in frying) so it can slide off easily after frying. Dip the batter coated mold into the heated shortening. Fry about 45 seconds, or until the shell is delicately browned. Remove and the shells will easily drop off mold. If molds are new, gently tap to get shell off. Let rosette drain on paper towels.
