1/2 cup salted butter, melted, plus more for the pan
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 large firm-sweet apples peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 inch cubes (2 3/4 cups

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Generously butter an 8 by 8 inch baking pan.

2. Whisk together flour, cinnamon, baking powder, salt and baking soda.

3. In a separate bowl, beat together, melted butter, sugar and egg until pale, about two minutes. Add walnuts and apples and stir until combined. Add flour mixture and stir until combined.

4. Spread batter in pan and bake about 45 minutes. Let cool then cut into bars.
Bars can be stored in an airtight container up to 5 days.
