1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 3/4 cups flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 cups oats
1 cup chocolate chips (may use raisins instead)

Directions:

Cream together shortening and brown sugar. Blend in beaten eggs. Blend in milk. Mix the baking soda and baking powder into the flour. Slowly add flour mixture. Add salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Once blended, add oats. Then, add chocolate chips (or raisins if you prefer).

Roll dough into balls and press into a cookie formation. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
