potatoes - diced
onion or onion flakes
salt to taste
milk
lots of butter

Rivels:
eggs
flour
salt to taste

Directions:
Directions:
In water, cook potatoes, onion, and salt until done. Drain most of water off. Add milk and butter. Bring to a boil. Mix flour, eggs and salt together. Chop mixture into desired consistency. Cook until rivels are done (about 10 minutes).

“The first time I made Potato Soup for my husband and the boys they looked at it funny and asked me where the rivels were. I had never heard of a rivel and told him where I come from we don’t make potato soup like that. But to him, it ain’t potato soup without the rivels like Ma’s.
