1/2 c butter (or shortening)
1/4 brown sugar (packed)
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
1-2 egg whites
3/4 c finely chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Pre-heat Oven to 375° F. Mix together butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla. Add in the flour and salt. Roll into 1 inch balls. Dip balls in slightly beaten egg whites. Roll in finely chopped walnuts. Place 1 inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 5 minutes. Remove from oven and make a thumbprint. Return to oven and bake 8 minutes. Makes about 2 dozen.
