Grape leaves
Pickling/ Canning salt
Vinegar
Garlic
Dried red peppers
Peppercorns

Directions:
Directions:
Sterilize jars, pick and wash fresh cucumbers.
To a quart jar put a grape leaf in the bottom, add a nice head of dill, 6-8 peppercorns, a couple of red peppers (more will make pickles spicy) and 2-4 cloves of garlic.
Make brine:
3 cups vinegar
5 cups water
1/3 cup salt
Bring to a boil
After you have put the dill etc. in a quart jar, fill with cucumbers
After the jars are filled, cover with the brine that is boiling and let it set for 5 minutes.
Pour brine back into kettle and bring to a boil, cover cucs again, putting on the jar tops and rings, place upside down in a pan with boiling water that is deep enough to cover the jar ring part of the jar for a couple of minutes, then take out and place on cutting board or heat safe surface upside down for ten minutes, then turn right side up and jars should seal!

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This amount of brine covers 2-3 quarts. Leftover brine can be saved and added to your next batch that you make. Mandy Summer told me she always made 3 kinds of pickles, regular, medium, and hot! Good idea!
