Ingredients:  
1 slice white bread
Boiling water to cover
Add:
1 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1 heaping tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
Milk needed for desired thickness

Directions:
Directions:
Put slice of bread in a large bowl and cover with boiling water.
Add dry ingredients.
Add egg.
Add milk to desired thickness.

Place on greased griddle and cook until bubbles appear over most of the surface of pancake. Flip and cook additional 2-4 minutes.

Serve with butter and syrup.

This recipe came down through the family from the early to middle 1800s. It is assumed that the addition of the bread is what makes the difference and it is also assumed that the bread was added because of a shortage of flour in the house when possibly additional guests appeared or the meal.
