Ingredients:  
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tbsp milk
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg and milk and mix together. Add remaining dry ingredients. Roll into balls and place on cookie sheet. Press hole in center with thumb and put your favorite jam in the center. Bake at 350º for 10 -15 minutes.
