3/4 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 egg
4 T molasses
2 t baking soda
2 1/4 c flour
1 t cinnamon
1 t cloves
1 t ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, egg and molasses together. Add dry ingredients. Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork dipped in sugar.

Bake at 325º for 8-10 minutes or until crisp.

This is one of my favorite cookie recipes. I used to make this at home and call Grandma for advise on how to make them. She was an amazing teacher even over the phone.
