Prune Nut Bread Recipe

1 1/2 cups cut up prunes
2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 boiling water
1 tbsp crisco or margarine
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 4 ingredients in bowl and let cool. Mix egg yolks w/sugar, add salt, vanilla and mix w/prunes. Add sifted flour gradually, then nuts and egg whites beaten stiff.

Turn in to 3 loaf tins (7 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 1/4)
Bake at 350 for 55-60 minutes.
