1 cup sugar
1 cup water
for each martini:
10 fresh basil leaves
vodka
1 Tbsp fresh lime juice (about 1/2 lime)

Make simple syrup:
- Mix equal amount of sugar and water, heat over med heat until fully dissolved. Let cool.
- Place 9 fresh basil leaves in bowl of mortar and pestle set.
- Pour a little simple syrup over the leaves (about 1 Tbsp)
- Pour one Tbsp fresh lime juice
- Grind with the pestle until leaves are well bruised and dark colored
Place ice in martini shaker, pour mixture over. Add vodka (about 2 shots?) and shake well. Pour through strainer in top of martini shaker.
