1/4 c butter softened
1/4 c shortening
3/4 c granulated sugar
3 large eggs
3 1/2 c flour
7 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
1 T Anise Extract
2/3 c light cream or half and half

Frosting
1 T melted butter
2 1/2 c powdered sugar
1/4 c mile
1 1/2 t anise extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º
Cream butter, shortening and sugar until smooth.
Add eggs and beat well.
In another bowl whisk together flour, baking powder and salt.

In a large bowl, mix with a spoon the flour mixture and the butter mixture.
Form dough into small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet several inches apart.
Flatten using a sugared glass, or the palm of your hand.
Bake 12 minutes
Cool then frost.
To make frosting - melt butter over low heat and combine all other ingredients.
Frosting will harden once it dries.
