1 lb. ground beef
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
1/2 cup chopped onion
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1-1/2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. pepper
2-1/2 cups hot water
1 6 oz. tomato paste
1/4 cup water

Brown beef in large frying pan. Pour off drippings. Add macaroni, onion, salt, chili powder, sugar and pepper. Stir in 2-1/2 cups hot water, cover and cook 10 minutes. Combine tomato paste and 1/4 cup water. Add to meat mixture and continue cooking 10 minutes. Shredded cheese may be sprinkled on top when served. You could also add 1/2 cup chopped green pepper with the onion, if desired.

This came from the Seattle Times many years ago. It has been a favorite because it is so easy to make and so tasty. It freezes well.
