2 c. pecan halves
36 pieces unwrapped caramels
3 tbps. margarine
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 tsp. shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Cover baking sheet with waxed paper and arrange pecans at least 1 inch apart. Place caramels with butter in double-boiler, stirring constantly, until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and stir. Drop by teaspoonful onto center of each nut. Allow to cool.
Melt each chocolate chips with shortening; stir. Spread over caramel and allow to set before removing from waxed paper.
