2¼ c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. Crisco shortening
¾ c. sugar
¾ c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 large eggs
2 c. chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
1. Whisk together flour, soda, and salt and set aside.
2. Cream together (standing mixer is easiest) shortening and sugars until completely combined and fluffy. Add vanilla and mix. Add eggs one at a time.
3. Add flour mixture and mix well.
4. Stir in chocolate chips.
5. Chill thoroughly, overnight or at least a few hours.
6. Preheat oven to 375º. Bake about 10 minutes or until golden brown.

This is the original recipe except that I always use shortening and chill before baking. It produces the perfect cookie - not too stiff and not to soft. Store cookies in a plastic container with a slice of bread. Replace bread if it gets hard - if the cookies last that long!
