1 1/2 c. SUGAR

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 pinch GROUND CINNAMON

1 c. SHORTENING

1 EGG

3 teaspoons CORNSTARCH

4 c. fresh BLUEBERRIES

Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease a 9x13- inch pan.
in a bowl, stir together flour, 1 cup sugar, and baking powder Mix in salt and cinnamon, Use a fork or pastry cutter to blend in shortening and egg ( dough will be crumbly). Pat half of dough into prepared pan.
in another bowl, stir together cornstarch and remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Gently mix in blueberries. Sprinkle blueberry mixture evenly over crust. Crumble remaining dough over berry layer.
Bake for 45 minutes, or until top is slightly brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Taste your berries if they aren't very sweet, you might need an extra tablespoon or sugar.
Just make sure to cool them completely before cutting or they will be a bit runny.
These are incredible. I used butter instead of shortening . If I make it again, I may use half brown sugar and half white sugar. My other advice: Make the bottom layer of crust a little thicker than the top so the filling doesn't leak through.- sherylhammer.
