1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 large green tomatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, salt and pepper. Slice tomatoes and dip in above ingredients. Fry in shortening until crisp. Put on deep platter.

Make milk gravy, using leftover flour/salt/pepper mixture in same pan used to fry tomatoes. Pour over tomatoes.

(I think you would make a roue by adding flour to the pan leftovers. Gradually stir in the milk and continue stirring until thick. You may have to adjust seasonings.)
