Ingredients:
Ingredients:
6 cups water
4 cups sugar
2 cups orange juice
5 ripe bananas
juice of 2 lemons
1 quart pineapple juice

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve the sugar in boiling water. Allow the mixture to completely cool.

Blend the bananas (make sure the bananas are ripe or the punch won't be nearly as good) with the orange juice. Add the lemon juice, pineapple juice and the sugar syrup. It helps to have a gallon container to mix the punch base in. You may divide the mixture among various containers. Go to the dollar store and buy some containers that hold 8-10 cups. Ten cups is better. Use two of those. They stack nicely in the freezer.

When you're ready to use the punch base, let it sit out for about 15 minutes, then chop it up in the punch bowl. Use a total of 3 quarts orange soda and 3 quarts lemon lime soda for the entire gallon punch base. Cheap brands work just as well.

8 cups or half of the punch base will make one 6-8 quart punch bowl full. Use 1 1/2 quarts orange and 1 1/2 quarts lemon lime.

If you make smaller portions, keep to the ratio of punch base and soda.

Joan Barnard gave me this recipe many years ago. There are various versions around, but this is a favorite! So good on a hot summer day!
