2 1/2 cupsall-purpose flour


1 1/2 teaspoonsbaking soda


1 cupbutter, softened


1 1/4 cupswhite sugar


1/4 cupbrown sugar


1egg


1 teaspoonvanilla extract


1/2 cupmilk


1/2 cupwhite sugar for decoration

Directions:
Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Stir together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
2.In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, 1 1/4 cups white sugar and brown sugar. Beat in the egg and vanilla, then stir in the milk. Mix in the dry ingredients until just blended. Roll the dough into walnut sized balls and roll the balls in the remaining sugar. Place cookies 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3.Bake for 10 to15 minutes in hte preheated oven, until the bottoms of the cookies are golden brown. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.
