1 stick butter
1/2 cup cooking oil
4 Tbs. cocoa
1 cup water
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Frosting...see Directions below.
Directions:
Directions:
Put first 4 ingredients in sauce pan and heat just to boil. Whisk flour and sugar and add to the above cocoa mixture. Then add the buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Mix very well. Pour into the greased half pan or broiler pan and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. When the cake comes out of the oven, frost immediately.

Frosting:
Bring 1 stick butter, 4 Tbs. cocoa and 1/3 cup buttermilk to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 1 lb. powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. vanilla and one cup chopped nuts, if desired. Mix well and pour over hot cake immediately.
