3¼ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 – 9 oz. package chocolate mint wafers
walnut halves

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, soda, and salt. Set aside. Cream butter and other shortening. Add sugar and mix thoroughly. Add eggs, water, and vanilla to butter mixture and beat well.
Blend in dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Chill dough. Shape cookies by enclosing a mint wafer in one tablespoon of the chilled dough. Place cookies on a greased baking sheet about 3 inches apart and top each with a walnut half.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Yield: 4½ dozen
