1 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
½ cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
3½ cups flour (sifted)
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/8 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs until fluffy. Add milk and vanilla. Stir together flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon in a separate bowl. Then add – a little at a time – the dry mix to the wet mix until all ingredients are mixed together.
Drop by tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Then drop 1 tsp. of filling onto the dough and then ½ tsp. of the dough mixture.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool on cookie sheet.
