2 c. all purpose flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. ground cinnamon
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
1 c. butter-flavored vegetable shortening
2 large eggs
2 T. water
2 c. (12-oz.) semi sweet chocolate chips
2 1/4 c quick oats. uncooked
1 c. chopped dried apple slices or raisins

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in small mixer bowl. Beat sugar and shortening in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in eggs. Gradually add flour mixture and water. Stir in chocolate chips, oats and apples or raisins.

Spread batter into ungreased 15-by-10 inch jelly roll pan. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
