2 cups flour--divided
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together 1 1/2 cups of the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Cream the butter and gradually beat in the sugar, add the vanilla and egg. Beat well.With a spoon blend the flour mixture into the creamed mixture. Divide dough in half. Add 1/2 cup cocoa to one half of the dough and blend well. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of flour to the other half of the dough and blend well. Roll each half into a 9x11 inch rectangle on floured wax or parchment paper.(if dough is too soft to roll refrigerate for about 15 minutes or until the dough is chilled. Once both doughs are rolled out place the chocolate dough on top of the plain dough. Roll the two doughs up like a jelly roll ,starting on the long side. Wrap dough in foil or plastic wrap and chill until firm, several hours or overnight. Cut dough into 1/4 inch slices and place on an ungreased cookie sheets and bake at 350º F. for about 10 minutes.
