4 C all purpose flour
1/3 C sugar
1 t salt
1 pk dry yeast
1 1/2 C hot tap water
1 egg
1/3 C soft butter or shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together 2 C flour with the sugar and the yeast. With mixer at low speed and dough hook, blend butter into the flour mixture. Add the hot water. Add the egg and continue mixing. Add in remaining flour to make soft dough. Mix with dough hook for 10 mins and then put dough into an oiled bowl to rise until doubled, about 2 hours. Punch dough down. At this point, it can either be refrigerated or shaped into rolls or loaves and allowed to rise a second time, until doubled. Bake in a preheated 375º oven until barely brown.
