2 cans Chicken or Vegetable Broth
1 cup Lentils
1 cup Rice, uncooked
1 cup Onion, chopped
½ t Basil
¼ t Salt
¼ t Oregano
¼ t Thyme
¼ t Garlic Powder
½ cup Swiss cheese (can substitute Mozzarella or Monterey jack)
1 lb Ground beef, browned and crumbled (optional)
Or
1 Polish Kielbasa, cooked and sliced (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour into a casserole dish. Cover with lid or foil and bake at 350 °F for an hour. Stir casserole a couple of times while baking and add more broth or water if it becomes too thick before the lentils or rice is done. May be topped with cheese and uncovered during last 10 minutes of baking.
