2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 large pears, peeled and sliced
2 large tart red apples, peeled and sliced
1 package (12 ounces) fresh cranberries, rinsed
Ice cream, whipped cream or cream, if desired

CRUMB TOPPING:
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 egg, slightly beaten

Mix flour and sugar in medium bowl. Cut in margarine, using pastry blender or crisscrossing 2 knives, until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Stir in egg until evenly blended.

Heat oven to 400ºF. Grease 2-quart casserole. Prepare Crumb Topping. Mix remaining ingredients except ice cream in casserole. Sprinkle with Topping.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream.

Makes 8 servings.
