3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup toasted slivered almonds
1 cup dried cherries or dried cranberries

Heat oven to 350ºF. In medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cloves; set aside.

In large mixer bowl combine sugar, 3/4 cup butter, brown sugar, honey and vanilla. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy (2 to 3 minutes). Continue beating, adding eggs 1 at a time, until well mixed (1 to 2 minutes). Reduce speed to low. beat, gradually adding flour mixture alternately with buttermilk and scraping bowl often, until well mixed (3 to 4 minutes). By hand, stir in almonds and cherries. Spoon batter evenly into 5 (5 1/2 x 3 inch) well greased mini loaf pans. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely.

Makes 5 mini loaves.
