Ingredients:
6 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
1 tea bag, Lipton black tea
1 or 2 slices orange and lemon
4 cloves
1 stick cinnamon
2 cups red wine (Gallo Hearty Burgundy or equivalent)

Directions:
Directions:
In a shallow pan combine sugar, lemon, orange, cloves and cinnamon. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bag. Leave the bag until the desired strength is reached, usually about 30 seconds to a minute. Remove the tea bag and add the wine.

Hint: This is the recipe that Mom gave us but there seems to be some magic to getting the combination of ingredients to get the flavor of Mom's punch. We have experimented with using more sugar, more lemon and orange, and more wine, all of which gives good results. Also, Mom used other types of red wine and it was always good. A little adjusting can get it close to Mom's punch....good, but never quite as "magical" as when she made it. She was the secret ingredient.

Personal Notes:
Mom used to make this punch for holidays, especially Christmas, sometimes Thanksgiving, and always Halloween. It would fill the house with its aroma and add to the festive atmosphere of the holiday. After the holiday she would add leftover wine to tea to make a quick version of the punch. Always good.
