2 cups dates
1 cup boiling water
1 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. white sugar
lemon

Rolled oats mixture
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
1 1/4 cups white flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
salt
3/4 cup butter

Directions:
Directions:
For filling - cut dates in pieces. Add sugar and boiling water. Cook until smooth. Add lemon and cool.

For rolled oats mixture - sift flour and measure. Add soda and sift again. Cream butter and sugar. Add rolled oats and flour mixture and crumb together.

Grease pan and press about 1/2 mixture into the pan. Spread on date-paste. Put on rest of mixture and press down lightly.

Bake at 350ºF. And no, the recipe does not say for how long...
