Ingredients: 2 sticks of butter, room temperature 3 c. sugar 6 eggs 1 c. sour cream* 1 tsp. baking soda* 3 c. flour, sifted 2 tsp. vanilla flavoring 1 T. almond flavoring

Directions:Preheat oven to 350º F.
*Note: When measuring out sour cream measure 1/2 c. into measuring cup, sprinkle teaspoon of baking soda over sour cream, and then fill measuring cup to reach 1 c. total of sour cream. Allow to sit and activate as you begin mixing ingredients.
Cream butter in an electric mixer. When light and fluffy, add sugar slowly and allow to incorporate. Add eggs one at a time. Alternate flour and sour cream mixture beginning with 1 c. flour, then half of sour cream mixture, 1 c. flour, remaining sour cream mixture, and then ending with the last cup of flour. Do not over beat once flour has been added. Stir in flavoring.
Pour batter into greased and floured bundt pan or loaf pans. Bake at 350º F for approximately 1 hour. |

Notes: One of our favorite ways to enjoy G-Ma's pound cake was when she sliced a piece, buttered both sides, and toasted it on the griddle. Because her refrigerator ran cold, it was often accompanied by a glass of flaky ice milk. Delicious!
G-Pa always licked the beaters and the bowl. A real treat for the one you love most.
