Ingredients:

1 cup whole wheat flour
4 tsp baking powder (heaping)
1 tsp baking soda (level)
¾ cup brown sugar

½ cup each butter and tenderflake lard

2 cups buttermilk

Directions:
Mix dry ingredients – Add butter and lard and work through fingers until crumbly and moist.
Add buttermilk and mix well. Batter will be very moist.

Take a large hand full (flattened round ball shape) and set on floured counter. Turn over to flour other side and roll (short light strokes) out ¾ inch thickness. Do not roll too thin.
Cut into biscuits and cook at 400 for 10-12 minutes until just slighty browned on the bottom. Will have to lift to check. Do not overcook!
