1 c. chopped dates
1 c. water
1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter or shortening
2 eggs
1/4 c. half and half
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. graham flour
1 1/2 c. white flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Combine in a saucepan; chopped dates, water, and white sugar. Cook until thick, stirring to keep from sticking to pan. Cool.

Cream together brown sugar and shortening. Add eggs and baking soda dissolved in half and half. Mix well. Sift together flours and cream of tartar. Add to sugar mixture and mix well. Roll dough quite thin. Cut with round cookie cutter. Spread filling in middle of one cookie and place second cookie on top and press edges together. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 375º.
