3 C sugar
1/2 C Crisco
2 Sticks oleo
1/4 tsp. salt
5 lg. eggs
3 C flour
1 small can evaporated milk- add
water to make 1 C.
2 tsp vanilla butternut flavoring
1 C chopped nuts
1 10oz jar maraschino cherries quartered and drained

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and oleo. Add sugar and salt. Add eggs 1 at a time and blend lightly being careful not to overwork. Add flour and milk alternately ending with flour. Add flavoring. Dry the cherries with a paper towel, Add cherries and nuts. Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour and 45 minutes at 325 degrees. Start in cold oven and do not open door while baking. Remove from pan immediately. (I take cake out 15 minutes sooner)
